The Denturists Profession Regulation enacted under the Alberta Health Professions Act, provides requirements for individuals to register with the College and to provide denturist services.
Section 3(1)(c) of the Denturists Profession Regulation deals with examinations.
Currently, there are Three (3) examinations individuals must successfully challenge:
DQE-I: Theoretical Examination: composed of 200 multiple choice questions covering all aspects related to the profession.
DQE-II: Removable Partial Denture Design Examination: a "practical" examination where candidates are provided with a dental model, patient scenario, and are required to survey and design an appropriate cast-metal framework (based on chrome-cobalt).
DQE-III: Clinical Examination. Candidates bring a patient which meets within specified requirements, the patients are then put into a "pool" where candidates draw names (so as to not be working on the patient they brought), and then provide replacement maxillary and mandibular complete dentures.
The College's Registrar posts the dates for upcoming sittings of the examinations, to the Events Calendar on this website. Further, formal notification is provided to eligible individuals; this being sent via email with the original documents following by regular mail.
The following are documents which pertain to these examinations; these documents are provided as general information related to the examinations, are subject to change, and are not to be considered as definitive requirements which will apply at the time of your examination(s).
Definitive requirements and information are provided to candidates with confirmation of registration for examinations.
